I have the pleasure of being part of the England Piano staff. To work with such knowledgeable and caring people has been a true blessing.

I began playing piano at the age of 5 and by the time I finished grade school was taking lessons on 4 different instruments a week (God bless my poor mother). I like to say as long as it isn’t a drum, I can play it. I have played music professionally for over 20 years in both the U.S. and Europe, and even though I’m getting a little “long in the tooth”, you can hear me locally here in Atlanta on occasion.

The piano has always been my favorite instrument, I feel that the basics of all music theory can be readily observed in the performance of even the simplest piece of piano composition. I truly believe that the greatest gift in education that you can give to your children is the exposure to some level of music instruction.

Whether you are looking for a concert grand, a player piano, an upright for your beginning student, or the latest in digital technology, choosing an instrument for yourself or your children should be a pleasant, even fun, experience. Please stop by our Atlanta showroom and let me assist you in selecting an instrument that will serve you and your family for a lifetime.

Since I began playing piano at the age of 5, I knew that sharing the gift of music with others would be a lifelong pursuit. After taking formal piano lessons for 14 years, I attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. I spent several years playing keyboards as a touring musician before meeting my wife in Indiana and building a beautiful family with 3 wonderful children.

I have been working in the music industry helping consumers to acquire the perfect piano and keyboard since 1987. I am actively involved with my church worship team and still play keyboards and piano professionally on occasion.

I enjoy playing R&B, Christian, Rock, Pop, and Classical.  Having lived in Atlanta since 1996, I know many area musicians and teachers, and am proud to be part of the England Piano staff.  It is my goal to provide the best possible service, keeping the customer’s needs and best interests at heart.  I look forward to earning your business and bringing the joy of music to your life.

How to Buy a Piano

I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and have remained in Atlanta for most of my life. My wife Deborah and I were married in 1967 and have two children and two grandchildren.

I served in the United States Navy from 1970- 1974 aboard the USS Simon Lake (AS-33), a Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine Tender, working directly for the Captain and Executive Officer. I spent my last two years of service living in Rota, Spain. I started my music industry career working for my father-in-law, Jim Scott. Jim Scott had been the piano and organ buyer for Rich's Department stores and musician for several Atlanta based television shows. Jim bought the Hammond Organ Studios in 1966 and changed the name to Jim Scott Organ and Piano Studios soon after. I helped bring Yamaha Pianos to Atlanta in 1969. During the 28 years with Jim Scott, I served as delivery coordinator, organ and piano service manager, store manager, and general manager.

After a franchise change, I followed the Yamaha Piano products to England Piano where I started my employment in 2000.

During my many years in the piano industry, I have marketed most brands and I am knowledgeable of all pianos.

I am still in the piano business because of one product "Yamaha". If it weren't for Yamaha I would be in a different business. I can honestly provide my clients with a top quality product knowing they will ALWAYS be satisfied. It makes my job fun and enjoyable.

Bill Jacobs

Piano Technician

I came here from Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1988 where I owned a piano store for fifteen years. I started learning piano in college and have done nothing else since 1973.
I've tuned for many large concerts and several movies, one of which, was an academy award winner. The piano business is wonderful and I wouldn't trade jobs with anyone (hardly). I have been a part of the England Piano technical team since 1992.

I have two daughters, eight grandchildren and a five pound Pomeranian named "Muffin". So, I have many bosses. My children, grandchildren, dog, and piano are my passions and hobbies all rolled together.

Mark Kearns

Piano Technician

I entered the music industry when I joined England Piano in 1989.  Most of my training as a piano technician has been on the job. I've attended several Piano Technician Guild (PTG) national conventions and have been a member of the PTG since 2000. I am certified on Yamaha Disklavier products and I'm also certified to install and service QRS Pianomation and PianoDisc systems. I have extensive experience in tuning and regulation.  I also am qualified and have years of experience in piano finish repair and lacquer repair.  I like being a piano technician because I enjoy working with my hands and the satisfaction of serving the customer well.

I am single with no children. Other things I like to do are attending UGA football, basketball and baseball games and riding my motorcycle.
